Core Responsibilities
- Continuous Monitoring: Utilize Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools to review real-time alerts, system logs, and traffic for suspicious activity.
- Vulnerability Management: Perform periodic risk assessments, ethical hacking, and penetration testing to identify weaknesses before bad actors can exploit them.
- Incident Response: Investigate and document security breaches, determine the root cause, and execute disaster recovery and containment plans.
- Security Controls: Install and maintain endpoint protection systems, antivirus programs, proxies, and encryption tools.
- Policy & Compliance: Assist in the development of company-wide security policies, educate employees on cybersecurity best practices, and ensure third-party vendor compliance.
Typical Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Typically 1 to 5 years of hands-on experience in information security, network administration, or a similar role.
- Certifications: Industry-standard credentials such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) are highly advantageous
